The Sonshine Mountain Bluegrass Band is a Gospel bluegrass group from Sprague River, Oregon, specializing in intricate, toe-tapping, and Spirit-filled music to uplift the soul. With backwoodsy, mountaineer humor and charm, the act is often imitated but never equaled.
Ron and Gale Willis, accompanied by Joseph Bergstrom, make up the three piece ensemble, with guitar, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, and upright bass on prominent display in their hands. Every song’s an adventure as they joke about “not knowing how this one goes” and then dropping jaws all around the room with deft displays of musicianship.
All three seek to serve the Lord Jesus Christ with their music, giving Him the glory for the inspiration and ability to play, and attempting to place him at the center of their shows at all times.
Featured on the main stage at the Cowboy Fast Draw World Championship in 2022 and the Klamath County Folk Festival in 2021, The Sonshine Mountain Bluegrass Band are regulars at the Tulelake-Butte Valley Fair, Lake County Roundup, Chemult Bible Fellowship Summer Jubilee Series, and much more throughout the land. More often than not, though, the band will be found camped out in the middle of nowhere, serving a country church with uplifting music and message for the Saints, or making soup in a homeless camp for those needing a kind word. They’ve even been sent to prison, but only to play music—the law hasn’t yet caught up with the band.
